Unfair – War Poem by Jesse year 7

Young Writers Club meets on Mondays after school in the library with Miss Colborne-Lilley from 3.30 - 4.30

The poppies glisten.

We all start to listen

To the man giving the speech,

About the soldiers we all preach.

He starts:

Bullets fly around like darts

Rifles bang in the air

Everyone thinks it is unfair.

Men all strike dead,

While the women worry on their beds

Posters are everywhere

Fifteen-year olds joining,

Again, that's unfair.

The bloody gore fills their young eyes.

They will not live to laugh with the guys.

They do not know it yet

But help will be what they want to get.

Luckily some survived

But unluckily, many died

And their loved ones could not bare

Once again, that’s unfair.
